AMS by leveraging AWS Backup to centralize and automate the backing up of your data across AWS services. AMS backup plans provide best practices for various use cases. However, you are welcome to continue to use your existing backup plans. After you onboard to AMS Backup Management, AMS provides backup reports, and ISmile Technologies continuously monitors your backup tasks to ensure you have a reliable backup solution.
AWS Cloudwatch and AWS Cloudtrail Logs are used to monitor workloads in AWS. At the time of account onboarding, ISmile Technologies triggers AMS by configuring baseline monitoring (a combination of CloudWatch (CW) alarms and CW event rules) for all your resources created in a managed account. The baseline monitoring configuration generates an alert when a CW alarm is triggered, or a CW event is generated. All alerts generated by your resources are sent to the AMS monitoring system by directing them to an SNS topic in the account. ISmile Technologies analyzes the alerts and processes them based on their potential for impact.
AWS MS takes care of the above-the-hypervisor patching. This includes the operating system (Linux and Windows) and infrastructure application (SSH, RDP, ISS, Apache, and so forth) security updates and patches. AWS MS employs multiple strategies, patching and building new AMIs for cloud-aware applications that can be quickly restarted and resorting to in-place patches for the rest.
Security & Access Management:
AWS MS protects your information assets and helps keep your AWS infrastructure secure. Configuring default AWS security capabilities and best practices, such as Identity and Access Management (IAM) roles and EC2 security groups, enables you to use your corporate credentials to access your AWS resources.
AWS monitors the overall health of your infrastructure resources and handles the daily activities of investigating and resolving incidents. For example, in the event of an EC2 instance failure, AWS recognizes the failure, automatically launches another instance, and takes appropriate action to minimize and avoid service interruption.
AWS MS coordinates all actions on resources. Changes must originate with a change request (an RFC or Request for Change) and can be manual or scripted. AWS MS ensures that changes are applied to individual stacks on an orderly, non-overlapping basis. It also holds all incoming manual requests until they have been approved.
