Mobility, consistency, ease of use, and high security are just the tip of the iceberg for why you should use Azure Virtual Desktop. Learn about what you stand to benefit from by using Azure Virtual Desktop through use cases.
Persistent VDI
Virtual desktop infrastructures fall into two camps: persistent and nonpersistent. Persistent VDIs make users connect to a persisting instance under their login information. This means that files are saved, and any changes made while logged in are maintained. Each account in this style has a desktop.
This is as opposed to nonpersistent VDIs in which users connect to generic system-defined desktops and save no changes to local files. Typically, this configuration is cheaper and simpler to operate; therefore, both persistent and nonpersistent VDIs find their own use cases.
However, because persistent VDIs are more complex, a single platform that consistently runs virtual machines to user-spec is considerably more attractive than a VDI solution that only runs nonpersistent machines. Azure Virtual Desktop supports both persistent and nonpersistent configurations.
Your employees benefit from persistent VDI by providing a familiar, personalized experience on their workstations and permitting any customization that may be required on a person-to-person basis.

Auto Scaling
Optimizing usage, size, and several resources in your VDI can be rewarding but difficult. For example, shutting down inactive hosts automatically stops you from maintaining unnecessary resources. In another case, you may be anticipating higher traffic during a sale on your retail website. Auto-scaling would allow you to automatically increase the amount of VMs available during the expected high load period and decrease once appropriate.
Azure Autoscale, Microsoft’s scaling solution that integrates with AVD, provides elasticity for your business across peak uptime and expected downtime. It is configurable to increase or decrease VMs during specified intervals of time.
Conclusion
Deploying a consistent virtual workplace experience to your employees that is configurable to automatically handle low or high-stress environments is your business’s next step to minimize costs and maximize impact.
